“Logan Lucky”: The ending explained

The rogue comedy “Logan Lucky” ends on a happy note – one could at least assume for a moment, until one thinks: Rainier land a minute, maybe the family curse will persist?

Attention, spoilers for “Logan Lucky”, which will be on tv from 8:15 p.m. tonight!

“Logan Lucky” is about the working class family of Jimmy and his brother Clyde Logan (Channing Tatum and Adam Driver), who are reliably unlucky. Jimmy could have become a successful footballer until he got a knee injury, Clyde survived the war and found a job as a bartender, which is made more difficult by the fact that he lost a forearm in the war.

Together with the crook Joe Bang (Daniel Craig), the Logan brothers dare a heist during a NASCAR race that is very complicated, requires the flawless interlocking of various screws and actually works … or doesn’t it?

The nasty twist at the end

The Logan siblings and their accomplices toast their success in Clyde’s pub with relief, so they toast the money they now have and the fact that they have finally won instead of just being the losers in the end . But FBI agent Sarah Grayson (Hilary Swank) is also sitting in the pub and looks at the gang suspiciously. The End.

The Logan Curse

Director Steven Soderbergh has a bitter, fatalistic sense of humor, which is also evident in “Logan Lucky”, especially in the final punch line. At the beginning of the film, the “Logan Curse” was explained:

Whenever something good happens to the Logans, it is soon ruined like a nice, thick, creamy cake at a garden party that is pooped by a passing bird (that’s not a scene from the movie, but you get what I mean, right? ).

The Logan’s curse continues to work because the Heist was successful in the NASCAR race, but the stubborn agent Sarah Grayson continues to suspect the gang and we can be sure that Grayson will not rest until the gangsters are in jail .

The Logans may think they are safe, but we viewers are released from the film with the strong impression that it will turn out badly for the family again this time and that the film title is only ironic in the end.

“Logan Lucky” runs on August 2nd from 8:15 pm on tv. Without advertising you get the film, among other things at Amazon for a rental fee to stream *.
