You’d think at least the first two “Terminator” films should know you, to follow “Dark Fate” – after all, includes part six of “Judgment Day” on. However, such knowledge is not necessarily needs …

For months, it is emphasized again and again that you now that “Terminator” -creator James Cameron is back on board, go back to the origins of the series. The last three are continued so “never happened” – or play at least for “Terminator 6: Dark Fate” is not important.

Instead, to now the story of resistance fighter Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), the latest with “Terminator 2 – Judgment Day” rose to the next Ellen Ripley probably the greatest action heroine of film history, will be continued.

Who does not know Sarah Connor’s story, however, need not committed the same feeling, the first two films before “Terminator 6” must catch up!

“Dark Fate” will work without “Terminator 1 and 2”

Already during the visit on the set of the film in September 2018 we were assured: Even if “Dark Fate” is a sequel to the legendary second film, the film is to be understood simultaneously as a reboot.

So would you allow to get along with little previous knowledge in the world of time-traveling killer cyborg without having to know the old movies forced new potential “Terminator” fans. As once thrown to the next in the war between the humans and the machines Sarah Connor from one moment, it is now just Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) who suddenly do not know how you done.

Make up is still worth

Although “Dark Fate” does not require knowing the history of Sarah Connor and the T-800, it is worthwhile to look for several reasons, “Terminator” and “Terminator 2” in front of the cinema (again).

Sarah Connor’s story continues: While the whole world brings the series primarily with Arnold Schwarzenegger in conjunction, the makers of the latest chapter lift always out, “Terminator” is actually the story of Sarah Connor – at least they will be labeled “Dark Fate ” again. And who wants to understand why Sarah Connor’s “Terminator 6” as it is or what it is actually going on with the opening sequence of the film, can not avoid the first two films.

Sarah Connor’s story continues:

Numerous references in the film: Who knows the first two chapters of the sci-fi saga, will also find a number of tributes in the film. From a few obvious quotations that already exist in the trailer part, on the portrayal of certain characters to whole scene processes puts “Dark Fate” namely full of such references that make course more fun when you can see the connections to earlier films too.

Numerous references in the film:

but more important than this substantive links is of course a very different reason why every James Cameron’s two classics should know.

Two damn good movies: With relatively few resources Cameron created namely in 1984 with the first “Terminator” film a science fiction milestone that seven years later he continued with the best for the FILM STARTS editorial action movie of all time. Full notwithstanding that “Dark Fate” joins those two cult films, this so worthwhile, if only because they are among the best it had to offer the sci-fi movies of the 20th century All About Movies.

Two damn good movies:

So, even if you “Terminator 6” should have placed no interest – the first two films are great cinema and worthwhile in any case!
